Running Socks That Could Save Your Marathon Training

Posted by Ben Lowe on

FOCUS ON YOUR RUN, NOT ON YOUR FEET.

Marathons. The ultimate test of human endurance. 26.219 miles of blood, sweat and often tears.

A challenge that thousands of us dedicate months and months of training towards every single year.

So, why make it hard for yourself by not caring for your feet properly?

When running, the feet are involved in both the push-off and landing phase. They come under huge amounts of stress as they absorb the most impact when your feet hit the ground.

That’s why it’s vital to take the correct the measures to look after your feet, starting with your socks.

We’ve all heard of the foot-related horror stories that come with marathon training. Tales of calluses, blistered heels, and loss of toenails.

Why risk putting yourself through that?

The solution is simple. A few pairs of high-quality technical running socks and you can focus on your run, not on your feet.

At SockMine, we have developed a marathon runners’ training pack, specifically designed to help prevent foot injuries that could jeopardise your training plan. In our pack, you will find three pairs of socks, all tailored to support you at different stages of your training plan.

Here’s when they should be used, and why.

MIDDLE DISTANCE SOCKS – THE COOL RUNNER COOLMAX® ANKLET

These are your casual running socks, to be used when you aren’t looking to strain yourself too much.

Maybe you’re going on a recovery run? Maybe you’re building up to a big-effort run later in the week? Whatever the reason, anything up to and including ten miles would be suitable for the Cool Runner Coolmax anklet.

Cushioned areas provide added comfort and shock absorption, to reduce the impact on your feet during your run. In addition, the ventilated panels help to keep your feet aerated and cool throughout exercise.

LONG DISTANCE/RACE DAY SOCKS – THE COOL RUNNER COOLMAX® V2.0

The Cool Runner Coolmax V2.0 are your long distance socks. On runs of ten miles or further, you’ll want breathability and to keep your feet cool.

Its ultra-breathable arch helps to keep the foot aerated. Furthermore, its ergonomic design (left and right foot specific) helps to improve its fit, reducing rubbing and helping to prevent blisters.

ANTI-BLISTER RUNNING SOCKS – THE GRIPLOCK™ ANKLET

Struggling with blisters and can’t work out why? There is a good chance it might be your socks.

The SockMine Griplock™ Anklet is designed to grip to your foot and reduce friction against the skin. In turn, this will help minimise the risk of blisters during longer runs, allowing you to focus on the run, not on your feet.
