ABOUT MAISIE
Maisie Potter, 20, from North Wales, is a snowboarder competing at the highest level. Despite being a snowboarder, Maisie actually first started skiing at the age of six. She learned to snowboard when she was eight and found this was where her passion lay. Maisie then started competing in a variety of disciplines at the age of nine and has continued winning ever since.
Although Maisie moved back to live in North Wales at age fourteen, she continued to train part-time. Since finishing her A-levels 3 years ago, she focused on her snowboarding career full time and has been travelling all over the world. She made her World Cup debut age nineteen and is continually improving. A year later, she was on her way to compete at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Unfortunately, she suffered a heel fracture at an Olympic qualifier 2 months prior to the Games. Her goal now is to get back to a full recovery and compete again and make the Olympic team in 2022 instead.
Outside of snowboarding, Maisie enjoys anything active and outside! Some of her favourite activities are skating bowls and surfing at her local wave (Surf Snowdonia). She is an ex-gymnast, which has hugely helped develop skills such as balance, strength, special awareness and mental toughness.
She also loves to swim in lakes, rivers and the sea. This is where she feels completely relaxed and free.
It’s fair to say she is a great role model to a lot of girls keen to get into the sport. To cap it all off, she is also bilingual French and English, speaks Welsh and did German at A-level and is now learning Spanish!
