Team Emgus
We are Emily Patch and Angus Smith, two triathletes currently in the 20-24 AG who compete at a national and international level. We are both at university, studying Chemistry and Civil Engineering respectively, and we met through triathlon in 2015 and have since got engaged. This lead us to create Team Emgus, a unique couple triathlon team, which allows us to share our triathlon journey together. Our highlights in our triathlon endeavours so far are as follows:
Emily:
- Qualifying to compete at the 2015, 2016 and 2018 European Sprint distance Championships and 2017 European Standard distance Championships.
- Achieving 12th at the 2015 and 6th at the 2016 European Sprint distance Championships.
- Qualifying to compete at the 2015 World Sprint distance Championships and the 2017 World Standard distance Championships.
- Achieving 29th at the 2017 World Standard distance Championships.
- Becoming British Standard distance Champion in 2016 among other National Championship podiums over the years.
Angus:
- Qualifying to compete at the 2014 and 2018 European Sprint distance Championships, 2015, 2016 and 2017 European Standard distance Championships and 2016 European Middle distance Championships.
- Achieving 6th at the 2014 European Sprint distance Championships, 10th at the 2015 and 5th at the 2016 European Standard distance Championships and 16th at the 2016 European Middle distance Championships.
- Qualifying to compete at the 2014, 2015, and 2017 World Standard distance Championships.
- Achieving 14th at the 2017 World Standard distance Championships.
- Becoming British Standard distance Champion in 2014 among several other National/British Championship podiums over the years.
Team Emgus Plans
This year we will be competing at British/National championship races, such as the British standard distance triathlon championships in Leeds and the National standard distance triathlon championships in Southport. Our main target for the season is the ETU European sprint distance triathlon championships in Glasgow in August where we are both hoping to place highly. We will also be racing at several local events and hoping to podium at all of these.
