Deux for Dylan Daniel

Dylan Daniel gets Silver at English Youth Fencing Championships

Dylan Daniel, 15, has clinched silver medal at the Nationwide Tournament which was held at the University of Hertfordshire Sports Campus in Hatfield. Over 400 males and female fencers entered the competition, which saw Dylan reach the final.

The first challenge for Dylan was to win as many of his poule matches as possible. It turns out Dylan did just that and won every single match leading him in good stead for the knockout games that followed. Although knockout matches can be very anxious for both Dylan and for those watching, Dylan was composed throughout and manged to overcome each of his opponents. After a long and challenging day, and many knockout matches later, Dylan Daniel reached the Final.

Unfortunately within the first few seconds of the final that Dylan worked so hard for, he was struck with server cramp in his thigh and required medical attention as a result. After 10 minutes break for treatment, Dylan battled on, narrowly loosing 15-14 in the Final. Althought this was not the score Dylan wanted, it was a tremendous effort and as a result received a place in the England U17 Squad. This amazing achievement means that Dylan will now be fencing in Paris International tournament next year.

SockMine would just like to say a huge congratulations to Dylan for his outstanding achievement and wish him all the best for approaching matches and tournaments.
